Uniport Planter 500 can cover 22 ha per hour in regular conditions and improves energy efficiency by 95%.

Jacto has recently launched the innovative hybrid self-propelled drill Uniport Planter 500 in the Brazilian market. in order to anticipate “future solutions” to farmers.

Uniport 500 marks new era for Jacto

According to Fernando Gonçalves, director-president of Jacto Brazil, the product is part of several novelties which provide “future solutions” to farmers. The Uniport Planter 500 marks a “new era” for the company, which has been developing and producing agriculture machinery for the past 72 years.

“Our new products and services reinforce the company’s innovative DNA in its search for solutions that make sense in the fields. They are tools to increase farmers’ competitiveness in Brazil, and they are designed to help farmers worldwide face a more demanding and challenging environment”, said Gonçalves.

The Uniport Planter 500 is the first self-propelled and hybrid seed drill in Brazil and is the flagship of Jacto´s new planter product line, which also includes the new Lumina 400 and Meridia 200.

Uniport Planter 500 available in limited numbers

The planter is initially available in very limited numbers just for selected farmers in Brazil market. Therefore Jacto cannot yet reveal its price. After the introduction in Brazil, it may take up to 1 year before the machines are available in other countries.

Integrated GPS

With the help of an integrated GPS system, the vehicle “knows” when it has reached the end of the field and automatically raises the planter. This lowers fuel consumption and reduces operator fatigue.

Its hybrid transmission system controls the power for the electric motors through frequency inverters and provides greater energy efficiency.

Increased energy efficiency

According to the manufacturer, energy efficiency compared to the commonly used hydro-mechanical systems increases by up to 95%.

The smart traction control system operates the wheels independently. This maximises traction performance and decreases power consumption as well as mechanical losses in the interaction with the soil through an electronic locking system.

Jacto says the Uniport Planter 500 increases overall efficiency thanks to its row down force system. It composes of a set of gas springs, for a constant force at any height of the planting line. This allows for a better uniformity in the depth of the seeds in the soil, regardless of height differences. It allows for angles up to 22 degrees.

Optimised seed singulation

The seed tank has a capacity of 8,700 liters. It has a central filling opening for both seeds and fertiliser. The pneumatic distribution system and the Precision Planting vSet2 seed doser allow for optimised seed singulation and CV (coefficient of variation), resulting in planting in the correct quantity and in the correct spacing.

Control of seed rates, compensation of rates in curves and the seed opening and closing controller line by line ensure uniform application and reduce overlaps, with a reduction in planting costs.

470 hp engine

The Uniport Planter is powered by a 470 hp diesel engine and an electric generator. It can cover 22 ha per hour under in regular conditions at a maximum speed of 10 km/h. The machine is offered in two configurations; 49 or 61 rows (around 30 meters of width when opened).

The row units can be completely folded, which allows for a maximum width of 3.20 meters. - Photo: Jacto
