FJ Dynamics’ LandMaster Navigation System uses AI for automatically straight driving.

Robotics company FJ Dynamics (FJD) will launch its LandMaster Navigation System in Europe in the second half of 2020. The system was launched last year and has since then been on the market in countries such as Japan and China.

Satellite navigation

LandMaster Navigation System uses satellite navigation to control the steering-wheel so that the vehicle can drive automatically in a straight line, and in countries where the legislations allow, the kit can automatically turn the vehicle around and shift gears. The system consists of an electrically-powered steering wheel, a control terminal and an IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) and optionally an AI camera which provides deep learning-based lane and object recognition capability.

Positioning accuracyup to 2.5 cm

Using GPS, GLONASS and GALILEO satellite signals, RTK technology for ground enhanced positioning, LandMaster allows vehicles to be positioned with an accuracy of up to 2.5cm and can automatically adjust the vehicle’s travel direction, with an accuracy up to 5cm, says FJD.

Machine learning algorithms

The system makes use of computer vision based machine learning algorithms, giving tractors and other machines capabilities to recognise objects and lanes. Millimeter-wavelength radar-based obstacle detection and avoidance can be added as an option in countries with legal requirement. By acquiring real-time position and speed data of the vehicle, the system can provide operation traces and speed curve charts, so farmers can obtain real-time operational data to optimise their operation.

The data collected during the operation will be uploaded to Microsoft Azure cloud with servers located in Europe. FJD says GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) is strictly followed so that the data remain inside the EU and will be accessible only to the farmer or otherwise under the permission of the farmer.

Suitable for various types of vehicles

According to FJ Dynamics, LandMaster is suitable for for various types of agricultural vehicles, farming and tube harvesting machinery on the market. It can be used for a variety of agricultural operations, such as ditching, harrowing, seeding, fertilising, spraying and harvesting.

FJ Dynamics Smart Agriculture Solution

LandMaster is just one of several agricultural solutions FJ Dynamics provides to farmers. Within the so-called Smart Agriculture Solution the company offers farmers all kinds of precision farming technologies, such as agri-robots to do the farming, smart sensors to monitor crops and an Azure cloud-based big data platform to analyse data. With the help of smart sensors, all sorts of farming data can be collected and uploaded into the Azure cloud, which farmers can look into at any time. FJD says it can also provide farmers with a customised solution.
