Drone manufacturer XAG has been granted approval for drone spraying in the UK by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

XAG’s P40 and V40 agricultural drones have been granted operational authorisation for drone spraying in the UK. In the United Kingdom, XAG is represented by AutoSpray Systems. The P40 and V40 drones can be used for spraying and spreading.

The use of drones in the United Kingdom for crop protection or fertiliser spreading, for example, is regulated by the CAA. Previously, a drone with payload was not allowed to exceed 25 kilograms.

According to XAG, such restrictions meant that drones never really became popular in UK agriculture. New regulations, which do allow heavier drones, offer great opportunities for application of drone technology in the united kingdom, says the drone manufacturer.
