xarvio Digital Farming Solutions has enhanced its Field Manager and Scouting tools. New crops are added to Field Manager and Scouting’s disease recognition has increased crop scope from 40 to 50 crops and from 200 to 400 disease and pest damages.

The new inclusions for Field Manager and Scouting are based on product testing and, more importantly, user engagement and feedback. Not only are the new features clever, intuitive, and easy to use, but they maintain focus on delivering users precise agronomic advice to enhance daily decision making, optimize crop production and support sustainability, says BASF Digital Farming.

Field Manager – new countries, all crop offer and upgraded field analytics

Field Manager launches in five new countries – Italy, Russia, Lithuania, Japan and India – and is customised to suit local agronomic conditions. Furthermore, Field Manager has been extended to cater for all crops and calibrated for crop health monitoring.

Farmers using Field Manager will be able to document all tasks for any crop they choose to cultivate and receive relevant power zone and biomass maps.

Variable Rate Application maps

With these maps, farmers can create Variable Rate Application (VRA) seeding and nutrition optimisation maps. Irrigation documentation has also been included enabling farmers to document irrigation activities by adding an irrigation task in Field Manager.

Field Manager’s field analytics section has also been given an upgrade. Users will be able to monitor the performance of each field zone by comparing side-by-side biomass, yield, soil maps and as-applied maps. The comparison provides greater detail including the ability to review applied product volumes and achieved yields.

Record in-field observations with text and location photos

A new Field Notes section has also been added. This feature enables the user to record in-field observations with text and location photos. They can choose the validity of the note, e.g. one crop season or permanent, then assign a category to the note including general disease, insects, weeds and nutrition. Each note can be prioritised from low to high and shared with assigned, registered users such as advisors.

Scouting – available for more than 50 crops, expanded disease recognition

In 2021, Scouting has introduced a new user interface, with a fresh design centered on improved user guidance and more intuitive picture taking. The change is complemented by the expansion of its highly regarded disease recognition, weed identification, crop emergence and soon additional pest monitoring capabilities.

Scouting’s disease recognition has increased crop scope from 40 to 50 crops and from 200 to 400 disease and pest damages. Many important fruits and vegetables including grapes, cucurbits and pomefruits have also been added. Strong improvements on weed detection and classification have been delivered too, increasing from 110 to more than 250 weed classes.

Pest monitoring component

In April, further crops such as soybean, cotton and oilseed rape will be added to the emergence analysis, and later this year a comprehensive pest monitoring component will be introduced. This will include pheromone traps and yellow traps, plus stink bugs and pollen beetle monitoring.
