British Drone AG now offers training courses for using drones to farmers.
Farm-based practical training for growers and agronomists wanting to learn about the potential for using drones in agriculture has been developed into an online option.
Drone AG, based on a large arable farm in northern England, is run by drone expert Jack Wrangham and his farming brother Hugh, to supply drone solutions for agriculture in the UK. For training courses, they draw on their complementary skills and experience and those of agronomist Robert Ord to provide insights into the use of drones either during a two-day course on the farm or through a new online option.

“With our practical courses, there’s no sitting in a classroom for a few hours followed by a quick drone test in car park,” says Jack Wrangham. “Our trainees get one-to-one, hands-on tuition in the field.” The course was established to meet the needs of farmers who plan to buy a drone or already have one but do not know their full potential, he adds.
So the Drone AG course covers mapping and crop scouting, plus guidance on how to collect and use data for stewardship and insurance, planning and inspection applications. The company’s £150 four-module online course on the use of drones as an effective cost-saving tool gives farmers and agronomists access to the same training resources, including videos and downloadable checklists.
The first module on safe drone operation is free and completing all four modules qualifies for UK users for professional development points.
