CIBO launches county-level crop yield forecasts
American technology company CIBO launches county-by-county yield forecasts for corn, soy and cotton.
The county-level crop yield forecast tool is powered by CIBO Lab. This platform helps U.S. growers estimate yield for any corn or soybean field by taking into consideration various management practices, weather forecasts and actual, observed weather conditions.
Generate simulations at field and county levels
CIBO’s new capabilities leverage proprietary modeling and simulations to provide insight, taking into account past and forecasted weather for the full growing season. This way, the company is able to use agronomic-based modeling to generate simulations at the field and county levels.

CIBO uses data from multiple sources
CIBO says it uses real data from multiple sources to determine how weather, management practices and land characteristics all affect potential yield. The new capability will be fully integrated with CIBO’s application, and is updated weekly based on evolving weather patterns.
The new capability incorporates several agronomic variables, including:
- Agricultural inputs such as fertilisation, irrigation, seed matury numbers and planting density;
- Natural environment such as soil, atmospheric conditions and topography;
- Every stage of the growth cycle, including planting date, biomass development, maturity and yield; and
- Environmental impacts such as nitrogen leaching, soil health, greenhouse gas emissions, and climate change.
