Claas reveals details of the brand new 650 hp Xerion 12.650

Claas expands its Xerion series with two new tractor models: the 12.590 and 12.650. These tractors feature a newly designed hood a powerful 15.6-liter Mercedes-Benz engine, paired with a CMatic continuously variable transmission.

The new flagship model, the 12.650, delivers impressive performance with a maximum output of 653 hp and 3,100 Nm of torque at 1,300 engine revolutions per minute (RPM), thanks to Claas’ innovative low RPM concept. With an empty weight of 25.4 tons, the Xerion can be ballasted up to 32 tons, making it a standout in this power class with its four-wheel steering.

The Xerion tractors are available in dual configuration with eight 800/70 R42 tires or with tracks. Claas has developed its own TerraTrac tracks with an integrated damping system, a unique feature compared to other manufacturers that implement articulated steering in this segment. The tractor also offers powerful hydraulics with an oil flow rate of 537 liters per minute.

No articulated Steering, but four-wheel steering

Special about the Xerion series is that it has four-wheel steering under a fixed frame, rather than the typical articulated steering in this power class. This ensures optimal maneuverability and precision, setting the Xerion 12.650 apart from its competitors.

Comfortable Cabin

Another standout feature of the new Xerion series is the spacious and suspended cabin. Claas claims it to be the largest in this power class, providing excellent all-around visibility. The clever design places the exhaust outside the driver’s line of sight; the exhaust system is integrated into the chassis and exits on the right side of the cabin.

Availability and Price

While Claas has revealed the specifications of the Xerion 12.650, the exact availability and price have not been disclosed yet.
