The Belgian machinery manufacturer Dewulf presented its MG 240 optical sorter at the Belgian potato trade fair Interpom, held from November 24 to 26 in Kortrijk, Belgium.

Dewulf displayed its MG 240 optical sorter at Interpom, a biennial indoor trade fair in Kortrijk that caters to the entire potato sector, covering cultivation, processing, and marketing.

The MG 240 is a mobile sorting unit compatible with any brand of hopper featuring a 2.4-meter outflow. To attach it, the hopper’s outfeed conveyor must be removed, and the feed conveyor of the optical sorter is then installed behind the hopper’s rollers.

360-degree camera

Equipped with camera technology and pneumatically controlled fingers, the MG 240 removes clods, stones, and defective or green potatoes. Its camera offers a full 360-degree view of the potatoes, while the camera and ejection technology are sourced from the Italian manufacturer Raytec.

The MG 240 features its own electrical cabinet and air compressor, making it entirely self-sufficient. Its intended sorting capacity is 80 to 100 tons per hour.

Stand-alone unit

Designed as a stand-alone unit, the MG 240 can be easily added to or removed from a storage line without complex modifications. Its full chassis ensures easy mobility, and adjustable support legs allow for precise leveling.

Prototype testing

The sorter on display at Dewulf’s stand is a prototype. Following the trade fair, the machine will undergo testing at a large arable farm in the northern Netherlands. Next year, Dewulf plans to build six pre-series models for further extensive testing.

While the exact sales price is not yet confirmed, Dewulf estimates it will be around €400,000.
