The German machinery manufacturer Krone, in collaboration with software supplier Lacos, offers software for the Krone Big M Mower. With this software, you can transform the self-propelled mower into a robot mower that detects obstacles like animals.

In fact, the software originates from the Krone/Lemken VTE robot project, and the manufacturer cleverly applies it to the Krone Big M Mower. In practice, you input the field via a terminal or tablet, after which the software itself draws the track paths. You also mark obstacles yourself. Subsequently, the software takes over control and headland management from the driver.

Driver anticipates on obstacles

The driver must remain on the machine because a standard Krone Big M Mower lacks sensors to detect people, animals, or obstacles. According to Krone, the driver now has more time to spot wildlife and anticipate accordingly. In theory, the software system can save the lives of animals.
