Automated settings control is an option on 4 of the latest CR Revelation twin rotor combines at the top end of the New Holland range that aims to simplify the operator’s work load while promoting improved grain samples and harvester output.
IntelliSense adds a camera to the clean grain elevator and sensors in the cleaning shoe area to calculate the volume of material on the sieves.
Together with existing sensors measuring grain losses from the rotors and sieves, the system checks for changes every 20 seconds and then selects a course of action if necessary from 280 million possibilities.

These include adjusting the speed of the combine’s Twin Rotor threshing and separation mechanism, altering the angle of vanes in the rotor housing to influence how fast the crop spirals along, adjusting the fan speed to optimise chaff separation, and re-setting the sieve openings.
‘Decisions’ made by the IntelliSense system are also influenced by which of 4 strategies has been selected by the operator as being most appropriate for the circumstances – Limited Loss, Best Grain Quality, Maximum Capacity and Fixed Throughput.

The Grain Cam takes repeated images that are analysed to create a grain quality reading, including the percentage of cracked grains and material other than grain in the sample.
Taking over from operator decision-making in this way can result in optimised output and grain quality, says New Holland, while also making up for operator inexperience and fatigue during a long day at the controls that can negatively impact on the performance of the most experienced operator.

With one of four harvesting strategies selected and main parameters set, IntelliSense will make adjustments automatically as necessary to optimise performance.
A camera on the clean grain elevator enables IntelliSense to analyse samples for cracked grains and material other than grain.
New sensors in the area of the cleaning shoe measure the volume of material on the sieves.
The latest CR Revelation harvesters can also have an updated version of IntelliCruise ground speed control that offers the operator a choice of strategies that prioritise maximum capacity, fixed throughput to maintain productivity in variable crops and throughput subject to a losses ceiling.
