Dutch company TTS has developed a range of high-speed automatic robots designed for transplanting young seedlings efficiently and accurately. Offering five different models, TTS machines can handle row spacing as narrow as 10 cm, catering to a wide variety of planting needs.

Since 2017, TTS has been creating transplanters for the agriculture and forestry industries, building machines that are mounted, towed, or self-propelled. The company specialises in both selective and non-selective automatic transplanters, which are designed and developed using advanced 3D software for precision and efficiency in its components.

TTS transplanters are equipped with optional automatic plant distance control and easy depth adjustment, making them highly adaptable for different planting conditions. With fewer moving parts than traditional machinery, the machines are designed for ease of operation, requiring only one operator to load seedling trays into the cassette.

Automatic adjustment for row width

Each model features an automatic robotic system with a specially designed gripping head to transfer seedlings from the tray to the soil. The transplanters are compatible with most types of trays and seedlings, and their automation ensures high productivity while providing maximum comfort for the operator. TTS machines are built for global use, powered by compressed air from a compressor included with the machine.

A key model in the TTS lineup is the Single Line Compact planting robot, which is just 45 cm wide and primarily designed for planting brassicas. A standout feature of this robot is its ability to apply both slow-release liquid fertiliser along the row or a quick starter dose directly to plant roots. The liquid fertiliser is stored in an 800-litre tank (300 litres for the single-dose applicator). Application rates can be precisely controlled via a touchscreen, starting from as little as 1 ml per plant.

TTS has also introduced an optional automatic hydraulic adjustment for the row width on its three-to-five-row machines. This feature allows the row width to be adjusted from 45 cm to 80 cm (18 to 24 inches) in just one minute, providing growers with added flexibility. For example, users can quickly switch from transplanting broccoli at 24 inches to pointed cabbage at 18 inches at the touch of a button, making the system versatile for different crops.

6,000 plants per row per hour

Another model in the TTS range is the High Density Multi Rower. This machine can plant over 6,000 plants per row per hour and is capable of planting three to eight rows, depending on the tractor wheel spacing. The High Density Multi Rower features a compact, simple robot housed in a single frame, capable of planting up to 25 plants per meter per row. The machine is designed for one operator and can be used on both flat and raised beds. Its design offers optimal visibility of the plant rows, with a configuration optimised for close row spacings.

TTS machines can be powered via the tractor’s PTO or hydraulics and are available in self-propelled, trailed, or lifting versions. Navigation can be guided by the tractor’s GPS system, ensuring precise planting. Prices for TTS machines start at €100,000 (approximately US $107,238), with direct sales or through a dealer network. Leasing options are also available.
