Orbiba Robotics is developing an affordable robot platform targeting organic and regenerative farmers specifically. A prototype of the EcominoS was demonstrated at the recent World FIRA event.

Startup Orbiba Robotics from Turkey proves that autonomous farm helpers is not only a league of major players with expensive high-end solutions. Their EcominoS field robot platform is dedicated to small and medium-sized organic and regenerative farmers and is to become available for a purchase price of €18,000.

Versatile

EcominoS measures 106 centimetres in length, is 65 centimetres wide and 95 centimetres high. The battery powered vehicle has an empty weight of 110 kilograms while its battery capacity is sufficient for 6 up to 8 hours of work on a single charge. Typical tasks it can perform include cultivating, seeding, plant monitoring, transporting loads and clearing (mowing) field paths with up to 1.5 acre (0.60 hectare) per hour. As well as weeding with Swiss Cern’s structured laser beam technology. In market gardens and plant and tree nurseries for instance where the vehicle navigates using stereo cameras, LiDAR and RTK gps.

Beta programme

The robot currently is in the beta programme, where the company collaborates with organic and regenerative farmers to enhance its performance and features. The programme offers early adopter farmers the opportunity to access the beta robot for €18,000. Participating farmers will actively cooperate with Orbiba Robotics to co-develop and refine the robot’s capabilities based on real-world needs and feedback. The company says it has so far sold 12 EcominoS units with another 37 units preordered by farmers from countries including Belgium, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Turkey. Orbiba Robotics is also looking for distributors.
