Dutch manufacturer Mechan Group will soon present an MF tractor in an electric version at the AgroTechniek Holland (ATH) trade fair. The importer is building the prototype in collaboration with Knegt Tractors.
Mechan, an importer of tractor brands Massey Ferguson, Fendt and Valtra, is putting the final touches on the prototype of an electric compact MF tractor. Mechan has been exploring electric tractors for three years. The electric motor and battery used are heavier than those in Knegt’s most powerful E-tractor.
The prototype somewhat resembles a tractor from the Massey Ferguson 1700 series and is 95% ready for production. “At the ATH trade fair, in the second week of September, we will know how many horsepower this tractor will have”, says Ronald van Hattem, Massey Ferguson director at Mechan Groep.

The technology was developed by Mechan in collaboration with Knegt Tractors. The electric tractor was built at the Knegt Tractors facility in Veldhoven, the Netherlands.
Mechan will reveal the details at the ATH trade fair. The electric Massey Ferguson tractor will arrive driving on the ATH trade fair grounds. That is 100% certain, according to Van Hattem. “The only variable is the software settings and what the power will be.”
Mechan is expected to deliver the electric MF 1700 in the first quarter of 2025.
