Drone manufacturer XAG has teamed up with FarmInno in Thailand to introduce fully autonomous agricultural drones in Thailand.
XAG’s autonomous agricultural drones are powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and will be used for fertiliser spreading and precision spraying. This is to help farmers in Thailand save both time and energy and help alleviate labour shortages.
According to XAG and Chai Tai Company Limited, the parent company to which FarmInno belongs, Thailand is facing an ageing farming population – the average age of farmers in the country is 58.46 years. Additionally, the introduction of autonomous ag drones is in line with the Thailand 4.0 program, which aims to transform traditional agriculture into smart agriculture and improve the country’s ability to compete globally.
FarmInno will to launch two models of XAG’s agricultural drones – the XAG P100 and XAG V40.
Manas Chiaravanond, Chief Executive Officer of Chia Tai Company Limited said: “These fully autonomous agricultural drones will help farmers to work faster and more precisely especially in large plantations with efficient spreading and spraying.”
