Solar intelligence solutions company Above and aerial and ground reality capture platform DroneDeploy announce a strategic partnership aimed at transforming solar plant management. This collaboration brings together Above’s SolarGain platform and DroneDeploy’s reality capture platform to deliver solutions across the entire lifecycle of solar plants, from project planning and construction to commissioning and long-term operation.
By combining DroneDeploy’s automation capabilities with Above’s component-level intelligence, this partnership enables solar asset managers and builders to use docked drone technology for consistent, accurate data capture and analysis. The collaboration supports streamlined site inspections, construction progress monitoring, and improved operational efficiency through an integrated platform.
The partnership between DroneDeploy and Above offers several features aimed at improving solar plant management. DroneDeploy’s Dock Automation solution, supported by its network of pilots, enables reliable and automated aerial inspections. With the integration of RTK, PPK, and GCP technologies, the platform ensures precise data collection through high-accuracy mapping and 3D photogrammetry.
Above’s SolarGain platform enhances site management by allowing users to monitor progress and quality during construction. It provides fast and accurate reporting tools, fully accessible through mobile devices.
In addition, Above’s Digital Twin technology streamlines the commissioning process by offering an efficient serial number scanning system. This helps users quickly resolve outstanding issues and complete project commissioning with minimal delays. The system also supports long-term condition monitoring, using component-level intelligence to maintain optimal asset performance throughout the plant’s lifecycle.
The partnership further enhances solar plant management by providing robust integration capabilities, including API connections to internal task management and SCADA systems.
“By combining our expertise with DroneDeploy’s automation technology, we are setting a new standard in solar plant management,” said Peregrine Fraser, Chief Commercial Officer at Above. “This partnership enables our customers to make data-driven decisions with unprecedented speed and accuracy, maximising the efficiency and lifespan of their solar assets.”
“Partnering with Above allows us to deliver a comprehensive solution that combines the best of automation and intelligence,” said James Pipe, Chief Product Officer at DroneDeploy. “Together, we’re providing solar asset managers with the tools they need to streamline operations and drive success at every stage of the solar plant lifecycle.”
