CNHi and Zasso form a strategic cooperation to market Zasso’s XPower electric weed control system.
XPower is a device that kills weeds using electricity. It sends a high voltage current through the plant, after which it dies. At the moment Zasso is performing tests to find out if a lower voltage can be used to kill potato leaf.
CNH Industrial (CNHi) is interested in the technology, because it provides a alternative and innovative way to kill weeds without the use of chemicals. Agents like Roundup are heavily criticised at the moment, and the European Union recently announced that it will no longer allow the use of Reglone, an agent that kills leaf.

“The partnership with Zasso and its XPower solution is the next logical step after the Europe-wide RTK network and the GNSS Guidance and Machine Control options. Zasso and CNHi have both developed their environmental protection focus over the past year and this partnership is just the beginning for more,” said Maximilian Birle, Head of Product Management at CNHi.
Zasso’s CEO Dirk Vandenhirtz adds: “It is a much welcomed and natural step for Zasso to partner with an equipment manufacturer. CNHi provides us with an unparalleled depth of distribution across Europe, to expand our solution. We are particularly excited to have been selected as one of the innovative technologies available through CNHi.”
The new XPower platform will be available in 2019.
