Spanish cloud-based farm management software scale-up Agroptima has raised € 1.2 million funding for international growth.

The Barcelona-based scale-up joined the EIT Digital Accelerator start-up competition from EIT Digital in 2014 and won the 2nd prize that year. EIT Digital is a European open innovation organisation that brings together a partnership of over 150 top European corporations, SMEs, start-ups, universities and research institutes. Agroptima is a cloud based farm management software that gathers real-time data and provides farmers with a mobile app to easily manage this data, improve decision making and save costs.

Agroptima

The € 1.2 million funding is mainly dedicated to the internationalisation of the scale-up, focused on France. Emilia Vila, CEO of Agroptima, points out: “This funding round is great news for our clients as it will allow us to accelerate the launch of several new functionalities, grow our support team, and penetrate new markets.”

Agroptima was founded in 2014 and currently employs 18 people with over 1.700 (mainly Spanish) clients covering 530,000 hectares so far. Next year the company expects to generate 7-digit revenues and increase its team to 45 people.

The EIT Digital Accelerator supports European digital technology ventures by helping secure target customers and raise capital. Since 2012, it has supported more than 260 startups who raised a total of € 400 million in investment, with more than € 90 million facilitated by the Accelerator.
