AgriNext Tokyo showed the agricultural technologies of the (near) future.
AgriNext Tokyo is part of the Agri Week Tokyo, during which several agricultural exhibitions are held in the Makuhari Messe in Tokyo, Japan.
AgriNext is Japan’s prominent scale exhibition for the agricultural/horticultural industry. Exhibitors show – among other things – IT solutions for agriculture, drones, plant factory products and technologies, and photovoltaic generation systems.
In Japan there’s a huge interest in precision farming technology, since smart farming is seen as the only way to resurge Japanse agriculture.
Japan is faced with a nation of graying farmers, while at the same time not many young people are eager to become a farmer. The average age of farmers in Japan is 66, for rice growers it’s 76.
