Small Robot Company (SRC) aims to reimagine farming through per plant farming with robots that will seed, feed and weed the world’s main arable crops autonomously. The first priority is non-chemical weeding to eliminate herbicides. The robots are battery powered and weigh no more than 300 kg. Dick uses electricity to kill weeds with the Rootwave weed-zapping technology. It provides precision, per-plant weeding both at scale and autonomously. It is a 1.8 metre-square spider-shaped robot with an arachnid, four-legged design that folds in for transport and will soon be able to carry up to a one-tonne payload.
Availability: commercial service starts in autumn 2021. SRC is also working on spot applications for diseases and pests such as slugs.
