Environmental friendly weed control specialist K.U.L.T. is preparing its hoeing machinery for robotic weed removal by introducing electrically operated in-row elements.
Hoeing machinery specialist K.U.L.T. – Kress has developed electrically operated hoeing elements to increase compatibility with field robots and other autonomous concepts that lack hydraulics. The German company says it’s experiencing increased demand for such electric operation from both field robot manufacturers and farmers.
Alike its hydraulic counter parts, one electric unit operates two hoeing blades for in-row weeding. The electric units each have one electric motor. An important difference between the two technologies is that on the electric unit, the opening between the two hoeing blades can be set stepless during hoeing. That is not possible with the hydraulic alternative. Both types of technology are interchangeable and compatible with the various camera steering systems on the market.
K.U.L.T. says the energy requirement and consumption of the electric hoeing elements is limited and that there’s no limitation to the number of rows and hoeing elements. It is not only available for field robots and other autonomous concepts, but also for the K.U.L.T. iSelect in-row weeder.
