Lero.03 is a newly developed field robot. Nature Robots, its manufacturer, equips the autonomous vehicle with a suite of instruments and implements to perform in various circumstances.

One of the most recent additions to the field and harvest robot catalogue is Lero.03 from German developer Nature Robots. Lero consists of a multipurpose rectangular carrier frame for carrying implements to execute monitoring and laser weed control initially. Mechanical weeding and seeding tools are expected to be implemented as well.

Monitoring for the purpose of plant identification and mapping in 3D, is performed with sensors and software while the automatic tool change enables the robot to cultivate a large number of different crops autonomously over a long period of time.

Fully electrical

Lero has a fully electric drive train with 2 drive units and 4-wheel drive and kinematics. Propulsion and implement power comes from a 9 kWh battery with in addition 0.68 kW solar power. Sufficient energy to let the field robot perform laser weeding for 10 to 12 hours with 2,000 watts implement power.

Nature Robots employs a modular navigation suite tailored for diverse (agricultural) environments such as grasslands, farmland, orchards and vineyards as well as forestry. Including LiDAR and vision-based SLAM navigation for GNSS-denied environments like agri-pv (farmland with solar panels). AI-based vision combined with 3D laser models enables the recognition of humans, animals and (other) moving objects.

Countries and prices

Farmers and others interested in Lero.03 should for now reside in France, Germany or the Netherlands as these are the countries Nature Robots initially targets. Prices range from €60,000 to €120,000 depending on the preferred software stack and chosen functional scopes (implements).
